Sometimes a read is easy because it’s well-written. And sometimes you don’t take much away from it.
 
An unromanticised and rather lugubrious, clever, secret underworld, rather dated of course since its publication in 1963.

I often finish books with a feeling of admiration. This one just left me sad.
